Attorney General Eric Holder has appointed Juan Osuna as Acting Director for the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR). As such, Mr. Osuna will be responsible for supervising the Chairman of the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), the Chief Immigration Judge, the Chief Administrative Hearing Officer, and all agency personnel.
Osuna previously spent nine years working on the Board of Immigration Appeals prior to taking a position as the Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the Office of Immigration Litigation (2009-2010). In June 2010 he was appointed as an Associate Deputy Attorney General working on immigration policy, Indian country matters, pardons andcommutations, and other issues. Osuna's first job out of law school was as an editor for Interpreter Releases.
Osuna has a B.A. from George Washington University, a law degree from American University’s Washington College of Law and a master’s degree in law and international affairs from American University’s School of International Service.
Impressive resume, although I would have loved to seen a candidate with some private bar experience representing immigrants.
Here is the Press Release.
