Senators John Kerry (D-MA), Richard Lugar (R-IN) and Mark Udall (D-CO) have reintroduced the start up visa bill now that the new Congress is in session. The bill would grant two-year visas to entrepreneurs if they secure $100,000 from qualified investors. After two years, the start up must have at least five employees and $500,000 invested.
Democrats and Republicans have talked endlessly that the focus in Washington should be on job creation, but for the most part little has been done. The start up visa is a way to directly create jobs and costs the taxpayers nothing.
