My friend Margaret Stock, the nation's premiere expert on military immigration matters, blogs about this problem. Millions of Americans are potentially affected by a new regulation that imposes a form of discrimination never imposed in the armed forces before.
Senators Pushing E-Verify Not Using It in Their Own Offices
This story is actually pretty funny. After a reporter called Senators that were sponsoring bills to mandate the use of E-Verify by all employers to ask why they were violating a law mandating congressional offices use the system, they all signed up in a hurry. Arkansas' new Republican Senator John Boozman is one of the suddenly E-Verified members of the upper chamber. Accorrding to his office:
“It was an oversight that is being corrected,” said Sara Lasure, a spokeswoman for Mr. Boozman. “As a supporter of E-Verify, Sen. Boozman wants to lead by example and is fully supportive of the program.”
