< Go back to Immigration Daily Dear Editor, I have a comment on a piece I saw in the TV news this week. It is about the 2 immigrant day workers that were deliberately attacked this week. It states the residents of this long island neighborhood are sick and tired of these people hanging around their neighborhoods and not paying any taxes. My opinion is that the contractors created this situation because they are looking for cheap labor. Furthermore, these contractors who are probably related to the people complaining, are also not paying taxes. There aren't many honest contractors who report their earnings and pay the right amount of taxes. Look at the amount they earn compared to the immigrants they employ. Doesn't anyone have a heart anymore? They are trying to feed their families any way they can. They didn't create these jobs cheap greedy contractors did. Put the blame where it belongs. I live in Brooklyn, NY, where the corners are filled with these immigrants. The first time i saw the contractors pull up and these people run as fast as they could to get the job i got a sick feeling in my stomach and a tear in my eye. This is why we need an amnesty bill to be passed. So people in this country will not take advantage of undocumented immigrants. Also can you explain what NACARA is? I know of an undocumented Salvadorian family. Maybe this can help change their status.
