LAND CONVEYANCE
Committee on Rules: Committee granted, by voice vote, a closed rule
providing for 1 hour of debate on H.R. 4656, to authorize the Forest
Service to convey certain lands in the Lake Tahoe Basin to the Washoe
County School District for use as an elementary school site. The rule
waives all points of order against the bill and against its
consideration. Finally, the rule provides one motion to recommit, with
or without instructions. Testimony was heard from Representative
Sanford.
WATER RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT ACT
Committee on Rules: Heard testimony from Chairman Shuster and
Representatives Oberstar and Sanford, but no action was taken on S.
2796, Water Resources Development Act of 2000.
PROVIDING FOR CONSIDERATION OF MOTIONS TO SUSPEND THE RULES
Committee on Rules: Committee granted, by voice vote, a rule providing
that suspensions will be in order at any time on or before the
legislative day of Friday, October 20, 2000. The rule provides that the
object of any motion to suspend the rules will be announced from the
floor at least ninety minutes prior to its consideration. The rule
provides that the Speaker or his designee shall consult with the
Minority Leader or his designee on the object of any suspension
considered under this resolution. Finally, the rule provides that House
Resolution 615 is laid on the table.
