Dear Editor:

I am an immigration attorney in Minneapolis, and I normally find your daily email report useful. However, your comments for November 16, 2000 are simply baffling. ILW bills itself as being pretty pro-immigrant, yet your commentary finds fault with Congress for "micro-managing immigration law" and giving "creative lawyers new loopholes."

Excuse me, but would you rather see Congress do nothing, and allow H-1B immigrants to languish in limbo while the INS takes several months to adjucate H-1B petitions, and years to adjudicate permanent residence applications? AC21 was a positive step towards fairness for employment-based immigrants, yet you would rather that Congress take a "hands-off" policy towards the INS and let them do whatever they want, whenever they want. Who's side are you on?
