Dear Editor:
I read the "Open Letter" of Gisela Boeker in ILW's August 20 issue with a smile. Any immigration practitioner knows that her letter is a "bunch of bunk". Reading the letter, one can come to only one conclusion . . . . if you want to immigrate to the United States, hire a qualified immigration lawyer. We all know that the INS has its problems, but in twenty-four years of practicing immigration law, I have never seen anything like what Ms. Boecker describes, and during the period of time to which she refers, I filed and adjusted many Labor Certification based employment applications in all four Service Center Regions without any problem whatsoever. My advice to any of your readers who are suffering at the "cruel hand" of the INS is to seek legal advice, and pay the price it take to resolve your problem . . . but also understand that under present law, not all immigration problems are solvable and not everyone is eligible to immigrate to the United States.
