Nonimmigrant Visa Fee Increase

Question: How much is the budget shortfall in nonimmigrant visa processing operations? How much revenue will the $35 fee increase generate toward covering that shortfall?

Answer: The anticipated budget gap from nonimmigrant visa operations is projected to be $210 million during FY2003. The $35 increase in the application fee is expected to generate that amount of revenue and balance out the shortfall.
