An article in the Bergen Record reports that Hispanic groups are lobbying President Bush to continue momentum on his administration's trial balloons on legalization of undocumented immigrants. The upcoming summit meeting between Presidents Bush and Fox on September 5th has transformed what would otherwise be a Congressional summer retreat period into one of energetic activity among lobbyists and interest groups involved in immigration. Both pro- and anti-immigration advocates are finding that they must postpone their summer beach plans and must instead address new developments. While reportable news remains scarce since substantive discussions are held in the proverbial smoke-filled rooms, we can be sure that more details will be available next month when Congress returns to work.
Many site users have complained that they are unable to get into the Chat Room
to chat with an attorney and use the 24-hour public chat or the
Discussion Board to post or reply to an immigration question. Site users will not be able to enter the chat room or discussion
board if they do not have a recent computer (Pentium 90 MHz) and a recent browser such as Netscape 3, 4 and Explorer 4 or 5. ILW.COM offers
many secure services for which it is essential to have a 128-bit encryption that only the recent browser versions offer. Users can easily
download a free copy of the latest browser version at Microsoft or Netscape.
Site users will not be able to enter the chat room or discussion board if they are coming through a proxy server. Both programs are running on Port:81, which is a non-default port and many ISPs (Internet Service Provider) do not permit their clients to log onto a non-default port. In order to confirm this, users must try accessing
http://www.ilw.com/findlawyer. If they are unable to do so, then users must contact their ISPs if they are accessing the chat room or discussion board from home or contact their Network Administrator if they are accessing the chat room or discussion board from work.
The final possibility that the users are unable to access a chat would be if they have a bug on their system. In order to detect the virus they must run a virus scan program or contact someone who can help them in this matter.
One visitor said, "....."All men are born equal." Hello, ther are other decent immigrants coming to the U.S. paying all bills. What about them? I wish someone will press charges against all those "communities" and supporters for violationg human rights of other immigrants. A multi-billion dollars lawsuit! It is an unfair, disrespectful to others issue, that doesn't even deserve an attention."

Reflections of an Indian business traveler in the United States I am not an immigrant to your great country. But I have been visiting the US both on business and on vacation since last more than a decade. I would like to share with your viewers some of my experiences there and the observations thereof. I also take some liberty here of making comparative analysis between your country (United States) and mine (India).......(cont'd)

DIVERSITY VISA LOTTERY The State Department has just announced requirements for this year's Diversity Visa (Greencard) Lottery, and an established American law firm and the nation's leading portrait studio have teamed to make application easy, reliable and affordable. A website developed by the 88-year old law firm of Steptoe & Johnson,
www.SteptoeVisa.com, provides an online application process and a Sears Portrait Studio discount coupon for the required photos, valid at over 1,000 locations in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico. People without Internet access can call toll-free to 1-877-WIN-VISA to receive
an application kit. The big news is that a 2x2 inch passport-type photo is now required for each member of an applicant's family, and not just the applicant as in the past. Other changes include the addition of Macau SAR as an eligible country, and changes in the addresses to which entries must be sent. The annual October lottery
awards greencards to 50,000 aliens, entitling them to live and work permanently in the U.S. Last year the State Department rejected 3 million applications to the Diversity Visa Lottery for "failing to follow instructions." This year you can use www.SteptoeVisa.com and be sure your
application won't be one of the millions rejected for mistakes. Just answer questions on www.SteptoeVisa.com, and then print out and send your completed form and the passport-type photos to us, where we will check for accuracy and assure delivery to the Kentucky Consular Center for filing.
The cost is only $45 for a single application, or $75 for a husband and wife -- comparable to that charged by so-called "submission service" firms. The website www.SteptoeVisa.com is currently in English, and very soon will also be available in German, Portuguese and Spanish.
Natives of all countries EXCEPT the following are eligible for this year's lottery: Canada, China (mainland born), Columbia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, United Kingdom and dependent territories, and Vietnam. Persons born in Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, Taiwan and Northern Ireland ARE eligible.
