Changes To Immigrant's Weekly
We are making changes at Immigrant's Weekly. Since we began publication on September 18, 2000, nearly four years ago, most of the articles in Immigrant's Weekly were reprints of articles originally published in Immigration Daily. With this issue, however, we are taking Immigrant's Weekly in a new direction. We expect that most future articles in Immigrant's Weekly will not be articles from Immigration Daily. We hope that with this change our readers will get content more closely targeted to immigrants, employers, and others similarly situated. But if you are an immigration professional (lawyer, paralegal, etc.) we urge you to unsubscribe to Immigrant's Weekly and instead subscribe to Immigration Daily to stay on top of immigration law issues. You can accomplish this on our homepage or write to us at webmaster@ilw.com for the change of periodical.
We welcome readers to share their opinion by writing to weeklyeditor@ilw.com.

Dear Editor:
Why limit or abolish family immigration at all, along with employment-based immigration? If persons are already working here legally, the IRS has "their number" and should facilitate the families' immigration. Persons without legal documents working here for cash only, having no criminal records, should be able to be legalized quickly through channels other than the current one. Then they should be enabled to return to their country if they choose to. There should be no barriers or long waits to have their families with them. Remember, they will all be consumers and taxpayers and will raise our GNP and profits for corporations and stockholders. Another benefit will be moral and economical - fewer fatherless chldren, therefore fewer persons on Medicaid and food stamps, etc. (assuming they are also paid a living wage). I feel strongly that the Visa system is futile for poor persons who need and have the tremendous courage to leave their families and start new lives in order to feed and clothe them. Couldn't we have a new agency in at least each Latin country to quickly screen out druggies, thieves and murderers and ascertain that applicants are honest in wanting to work in the USA, and this without charging thousands of dollars or permitting the current method of bribery that the applicants are subjected too. This would eliminate coyotes at the borders. And many innocent men, women and children would not be losing their lives to the deserts and to "patriotic" Americans with guns.

Dear Editor:
I received Immigrant's Weekly from ILW.COM the same day I got the August 19th issue of Immigration Daily from ILW.COM. Your editorial on spyware cites the September issue of SmartMoney Magazine and we are in August. I'm concerned whether this email was sent from ILW.COM or from hackers, especially because of the talk about the options to take to fix spyware.

Editor's Note: Both Immigrant's Weekly and Immigration Daily were sent to you by ILW.COM. Please be aware that the publishing industry uses advance publication dates as the standard. This is why SmartMoney Magazine's current issue is labeled September even though we are still in the month of August. Immigrant's Weekly is another example. Although Immigrant's Weekly usually ships each Wednesday, the issue is dated for the following Monday.
