Dear Editor:
People of some sections are asserting that if illegals are not in the
US, we could not get potatoes, tomatoes etc at the price what we are
getting now. Furthermore, they are saying that these illegals are very
hard working people, paying taxes to the government and doing only
those works that no USCs and LPRs are willing to do. The immigration
reform bill proposed by the Senate Judiciary Committee has a provision of guest worker programs, and this program also seems to have full support of President Bush. Congress should pass this immigration reform bill allowing the present illegals to be
included into guest workers program provided that their status of guest
worker will never be adjusted to any other kind of visa category.
S. Salike
Dear Editor:
Cyril's letter (04/03/06 OD) hopes Congress passes a bill to "allow millions of illegals to stay in the USA." No, the bill would make them legal. They would then be replaced by millions of new illegals to do the jobs legal aliens won't do.
