Dear Editor:

Thanks for the full account of the Ali Al-Maqtari case. It is evident that the "Ashcroft Raids," as Pat Buchanan called them approvingly, have begun, sweeping peaceable aliens and US citizens into the dragnet. It is a good thing that there are immigration lawyers who know how to force the goverment to put on the brakes before too much damage is done to the individuals involved and to our system of due process and fundamental fairness.
