Dear Editor:
The following requirements for non-citizen mexican residents to acquire a Florida drivers license has been formalized as follows:
(1) a current passport, or any US drivers license used to validate identity of applicant. (2) a copy of an approved I-797,or any other form of US/state government issued id. needed for proof of legal presence in the US. (3) if the priority date on the I-797 is more than 2 years old, check the internet for confirmation that the approved application is still current and in process.. print out a copy for presentation with the approved I-797. (4) if the above requirements are met, then a request for a renewed or original drivers license or identification card can be processed. I believe this is a great step forward in simplifying and clarifying the rules, for both the applicants, and the personnel at the motor vehicle offices.
