I have always raised the issue of D Visas (Divine Class) with my devout Christian Right friends who happen to be anti-immigrationists. My issue is that if Jesus Christ were to return today how would he gain entry into the USA. Is Mr. Ashcroft going to waive that requirment?
Ms.Murthy should feel this issue coming from India.

In reply to Ken Roberts Letter,
I would like to pass my story on - I would first like to say I am a legal immigrant to the US. I was going through the immigration process around the time of Sept 11, which made things a little more difficult. I did everything the right way, through the immigration process etc. I made a little mistake on the I94, I believe it is called when you come into the country via plane. It was an honest mistake and because of this they wanted to deport me. It ended up being a real battle which both me and my wife found very stressful. Anyway at this time the immigration department passed an amnesty which gave illegal immigrants to a certain date to come forward and their illegal status would be overlooked as long as they paid the required fee. We both found this to be unacceptable and unfair as an honest mistake was causing us such stress and costing us more money.
I believe every country needs a share of immigrants for advancement and cultural understandings. I also think this process needs to be fair and civilized, which I don't think it always is. Sometimes life leads you on a path which puts you into a situation you never expect to be in, how nice it would be for everyone to have to go through the same process without amnesties allowing people who have done wrong to have their wrongs over looked and bi-pass what the honest one have to go through.
