15,000 Become America's Newest Citizens
More than 15,000 individuals will become America's newest citizens during special July 4th naturalization ceremonies. According to USCIS Acting Director Michael Petrucelli, "Every Fourth of July we are reminded of the sacred responsibilities and privileges we enjoy as Americans. Over the next week, USCIS will introduce more than 15,000 new citizens to our American values of life, liberty and freedom, and allow them to truly celebrate Independence Day for the first time."
Immigrant's Weekly welcomes our newest citizens and wishes everyone a happy, healthy July 4th!

Dear Editor:
Responding to Jean Wilkens's letter where she expressed frustration that "illegal immigrants don't even want to learn the English language..." (6/27/05 IW), I believe we would all benefit from a second language which makes us better people in the U.S.A. More pay is always great when you learn a second language.
