H-1B Update

USCIS announced that it has received 45,900 H-1B petitions that will count against the Congressionally-mandated cap for fiscal year 2005 (October 1, 2004 - September 30, 2005). The limit in fiscal year 2005 is 65,000. For the rest of the USCIS H-1B cap announcement, see here. Given that approximately 70% of the FY 2005 H-1B numbers have already been reached, it is prudent to consult your immigration attorney if you want an H-1B visa before the cap is reached.
