Editor's Comments of the Day
There are approximately 60 working days left for the 106th Congress. In that short time Congress may consider bills that would affect H-1Bs, IIRAIRA, the restoration of 245(i), advancing the registry date, and the complete reorganization of the INS. Members of Congress need to be contacted by letter, FAX, phone call and e-mail and told how to vote responsibly on these issues. Only citizens can vote in elections for members of Congress. There are many people in this country, both legally and illegally, for whom these bills are of vital importance, but who cannot vote. Congress needs to hear these voices, too. When writing to members of Congress, those who cannot vote can say they are not citizens-yet! For more on the pending legislation see the article 60 Days Left And Many Immigration Bills To Pass.
