Comment: Heartless Whitman Wants Nanny Deported - California GOP Gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman, former CEO of eBay, reportedly told FoxNews: "It breaks my heart, but she should be deported because she forged documents, and she lied about her immigration status." This is the punishment Ms. Whitman would visit upon the lady who took care of Ms. Whitmans children for 9 years, in addition to cleaning Ms. Whitmans house. The homes of the rich-and-famous, including anti-immigrant bigots, run on the hard and humble labor of the undocumented. Yet, in Ms. Whitmans universe, the rule of the law trumps not only any compassion for a faithful servant, but human decency too. We dont believe that the nannys actions were immoral, it is the immigration law that is broken and needs to be fixed. Yet should the inadequacy of the immigration laws intervene in permitting undocumented labor to be furnished, the high-and-mighty believe that the consequences should be visited only upon the unfortunate undocumented, absolving the employer who "did not know". We are confronted here with yet another instance of the gulf between the rhetoric and the actions of those who rail against immigrants. Fortunately, California is blessed with discerning voters, Ms. Whitmans campaign is headed for defeat next Tuesday, despite the fact that Ms. Whitman has broken every record in spending money to get elected Governor. By showing that she is heartless, unprincipled and disloyal, we believe Ms. Whitman is disqualified not only from holding public office but also as an American and she would simply be getting her just deserts should Ms. Whitman be deported from the USA.
